For
the past 21 years, I have been selling real estate in Hardwick
and the surrounding towns. I was
one of the original founders of the
East Quabbin Land Trust
and have worked diligently for many years to preserve land in Hardwick,
Petersham, Barre, New Braintree and Ware.
Last year, my wife and I decided that it was time to sell our 100+ acre farm in Hardwick. We set out to find a new home and to preserve the farm we loved so much. We attained those goals by selling to a young farming couple and completely restoring our new home on West Road in Petersham. We are now very happily settled in Petersham and will continue to offer real estate services to buyers and sellers interested in the East and North Quabbin areas.
I look forward to sharing my expertise with you. Make sure to click on the links to the left to see our current listings. Thank you for visiting Hardwick/Petersham Properties' website. Contact us by phone or fax at 978-724-3427 or by email at hpproperties@verizon.net Bob Paquet, Realtor
The Town of Hardwick located in Central Massachusetts, is approximately 30 miles from both Worcester and Springfield. The total population of just under 3,000 is divided between the four villages of Hardwick Center, Old Furnace, Wheelwright and Gilbertville. The town’s history dates from 1739. It was originally called Lambstowne, then later renamed for Lord Hardwicke. Hardwick Center is the picture-perfect example of what most people imagine a New England Town Common to be. It consists of the Hardwick General Store, two churches, the restored Hardwick Town House, an old brick schoolhouse now the home of the Hardwick Historical Society, and various historic homes appearing much the same as they would have 150 years ago. Every summer the Common is host to the Hardwick Community Fair ~ the oldest continuous fair in the country. Hardwick remains a country community with working dairy farms, numerous walking, x-country and riding trails and over 2000 acres protected by Massachusetts Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife. It is sheltered to the west by the 150,000 acre Quabbin Reservoir. Community spirit abounds with opportunities to be part of the Hardwick Fair Committee, the Recycling Commission, the East Quabbin Land Trust, the Historical Society, the Hardwick Youth Group, to name just a few. This area of Massachusetts is truly one of New England’s best kept secrets!

The Town of Petersham is located on Rt. 32, just minutes south of Rt. 2. Originally know as "Volunteers Town" for the colonist-soldiers who received land for service to the Crown, and then Nichewaug after the Native American tribe inhabiting the area, Petersham received its present name at the notion of the King's General Court. In petitioning for town status, the space for the name of the new town was left blank, and the court decided to name Petersham after a "good old English town." Today's Petersham is a "good old New England town" with its picturesque bandstand at the heart of its Common, magnificent Greek Revival mansions, and elegant bed-and-breakfasts. Little has changed over the years. The tranquility of Petersham and its harmony with nature suggest a special place worth experiencing. Petersham boasts an active Historical Society, the Petersham Craft Center and The Country Store.
